Since 2005, CIAO has assisted more than 500 youth who have left the foster care system. CIAO helps former foster youth in the areas of education and employment, such as earning a credential or degree, developing and realizing career goals, and finding the stability that they need to become independent young adults.

CIAO has been a resource in the foster care community that has provided hope to many young people. In Wayne County, where CIAO operates it's program, nearly 500 youth age out of foster care every year - one of the highest rates in the country.

These youth experience higher dropout rates, greater incidences of homelessness, mental health issues and incarceration, are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior, become teen parents, live in poverty and have higher unemployment rates. In addition, they must compete for jobs in an unstable economy. CIAO helps youth achieve success and positive outcomes related to employment, and also within their day-to-day lives.

CIAO's funding has been significantly reduced as a result of an unstable economy. Accordingly, we are working very hard to obtain support needed to continue helping our foster youth.

We welcome your participation at any level. Some of the most requested services by our CIAO! participants: Job shadowing, paid work experiences, vehicle donations and car repairs, rent assistance and furniture donations, college tuition and training fees, legal services, minor medical expenses and mentoring.
