How you can help!
  • Be a mentor.
Mentors make a difference. Research shows that children and youth with mentors earn higher grades and report improved relationships with their friends and families.
  • Support foster youth in college and vocational school.
Giving scholarship money helps alumni of foster care pursue the education they dream about.
  • Contribute financially.
A donation, no matter the size, can make a big difference in the lives of families, youth, and children.
  • Provide employment and training opportunities.
Help a youth in foster care explore career options and find a job.
  • Be an advocate for change.
Improve the lives of youth by educating and informing policy makers about the problems facing foster children in America.

Volunteer Opportunities

Develop a virtual mentoring relationship with a youth as he or she transitions, or begins the transition process, from foster care to post-secondary training.  Our volunteer mentors are from all walks of life.  They are people who want to give back, but need a means to do so that fits with their busy professional life.  If you wish to donate your time and talents, please give us a call. Volunteers provide valuable support to our community programs. There may be qualifying criteria for some volunteer positions, see our volunteer page for a listing of opportunities.

If you have a product, skill, service, or connection we’ll be happy to discuss how you can help the CIAO program and the youth we serve. Call (734) 858-1580 for more information.

Gifts of Resources

By donating in-kind good and services you can help us assist the programs and the foster children we serve. Our foster children can regularly use:

  • Any health care services; dentist, doctor, eye care etc.
  • Professional beautician services, especially those who specialize in the hair care of African American children.
  • New clothing and shoes of all sizes.
  • Gift cards to local department stores to allow teenagers to opportunity to select their own clothing items.
