MY SHAME

Why Is This So Hard?
Why Is This So Confusing?
Why Can't I Figure Out This Feeling I Have Inside?

Do I Like You?
Do I Love You?
Or Is This Just Lust That I Have For You?

Maybe I Only Want You
Because I Can't Have You
At Least Not All To My-Self

You Want A Night Of Fun
A Fling
I However Want A Very Different Thing

I Want Something Serious
Something Deep
Something Real
Something True
Too Bad For Me
'Cuz I Once Hoped That Would Be You

I Know You've Been Hurt In The Past
I'm Sure This Is True
But So Have I
By Guys Like You
I Fall Too Quick
For Guys Who Don't Give A Shit

I've Been Used
Abused
Raped
Torn Down Mentally
& Emotionally
By People Who I Thought Loved Me & Cared

So I've Tried To Learn From My Mistakes
& Live My Life In A Different Way

I'm Sure You Never Knew Of My Pain
But I've Just Given You A Tiny Glimpse
Of My Shame

When Someone Loves You

YOUR NIGHTS ARE DARK
AND YOUR SKIES ARE BLUE
BUT WHY IS IT THE ONES YOU LOVE
THAT AREN’T EVER TRUE

LIES AND DECEIT…BROKEN PROMISES
NO ONE TO BELIEVE
NO WHERE TO LIVE BUT GROUP HOMES
FEELING IN THIS WORLD LOST AND ALONE

WANTING NOT TO CARE
BECAUSE THERE’S NO MOM OR DAD
WE’RE WANTING TO BE HELD
WANTING TO BE TOUCHED
WANTING A FAMILY TO LOVE US SO MUCH

SEE…I KNOW IT’S NOT ALL MY FAULT
BUT A HAPPY HOME CONSUMES MY THOUGHTS
A PLACE WHERE LOVE AND KINDNESS ARE TAUGHT
SOMEWHERE PEOPLE WON’T DOWN ME FOR MY FAULTS

WHEN WILL MY SEARCH BE OVER
WHEN WILL MY NEW LIFE BEGIN
WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO ENJOY MY LIFE
INSTEAD OF WRITING IT DOWN WITH PEN

ONE DAY I WILL FIND THIS LIFE
ONE DAY I WILL FIND THE KEY
BECAUSE FROM ALL MY SIN
MY LORD HAS FREED ME

AND I KNOW HE HAS A SPECIAL PLAN FOR ME

A Mother To Me

A mother to me, loves unconditionally
She learns and touches life lessons, you see.
She loves you when you’re wrong,
and redirects you with a motherly song.
She’ll let no one do you no harm.
That’s what it means to be a mother to me.
She gives you all the nurturing you need,
Because you came from her very own seed.
But there are mothers who didn’t give us life,
They took us in and never blinked twice.
That’s what it means to be a mother to me.
All my life, I’ve wanted a real mother.
Ms. Jones and Ms. Perry,
you exemplify what it means to be a natural lover.
Since meeting me, all those years ago,
You gave me mental tools to help me grow.
That’s what it means to be a mother to me.
We’ve had our ups and downs since that eventful day.
We’re only human, is all I can say.
But I’d definitely have it no other way.
It has been a journey since day one,
I love you, even though I am not your biological son,
You will always be a phenomenal mother to me.
